Event: Kick-off OMELETTE Project and TREP Meeting
We are thrilled to announce the official start of the OMELETTE project. This pioneering initiative seeks to transform the sustainability and resilience of egg production in the North-West Europe (NWE) region. With a focus on integrating hen longevity with animal health and welfare, the OMELETTE project is poised to address pressing challenges facing the poultry industry.
Our kick-off event took place from the 16 to 18th April 2024 in Eersel (NL) at the Vencomatic Campus. All partners, as well as 30+ members of the Trans Regional Expert Panel (TREP) were present to give their expert input on the various project activities.
Thank you to the Vencomatic group for hosting the event and organising tours of their facilities.
In the coming years
The culmination of the OMELETTE project will result in the development of a cross-border Longevity Action Plan. This plan will be demonstrated on pilot farms across the NWE region, showcasing its effectiveness in diverse territorial contexts. Moreover, targeted training and communication efforts will empower farmers and stakeholders to adopt sustainable practices, thereby fostering a resilient egg production ecosystem. The project also aims to bridge the gap between farmers and local authorities and between farmers and the consumers with a large array of communication initiatives.
Stay tuned for updates on our progress, events, and milestones as we embark on this exciting venture!
