The EPC (°1993), the Belgian research institute for applied poultry research, focusses on the poultry sector’s efficiency and economic sustainability, food safety, animal health and welfare, both for laying hens and broilers.

The EPC has state-of-the-art semi-commercial infrastructure and experienced experts in a unique objective and independent position. This comprehensive approach combined with its independent role distinguishes the institute from universities or private research infrastructure.

The EPC has an extended network in the agro-business complex: direct contact with farmers, ministries, governmental agencies, farmers organisations, researchers throughout Europe and retail. Because of this unique position and dialogue with the different stakeholders current challenges and topics can be investigated to address the present and upcoming questions and needs from the field. This wide national and international network enables broad dissemination of research results.
